O.N.E., Inc. (Design Studio), New York, NY, 2001-2012

Owner / Creative Director

 

  • Established design studio, directing all phases of development of Men’s and Women's collections from mass-market to high-end luxury.

  • Built a team of Designers and provided direction, drawing on expertise in category and trends, knowledge of the competitive set, and emerging global and domestic trends.

  • Developed brand identities and creative direction, diagnosed issues with the brand, and creative development responses.

  • Communicated a distinct point of view on brand’s position in market place and competitive differentiation to clients and recommendations on targeting audiences and expanding brand awareness. 

 

Highlights of Accomplishments:

 

  1. Roam New York on HSN. Created and conceived a brand story, identity, and aesthetic, maintaining 80% sell-through for two consistent years, and acting as Brand Ambassador, selling the collection on the network.

  2. Timberland. Designed and created aesthetics, levering their heritage and archives, elevating the brand into a more modern image, while remaining true to their DNA.

  3. OMAR Signature Collection. Developed a custom suit collection with a sportswear component based in Harlem NYC focusing on celebrity and upscale clientele.

  4. Wilsons Leather. Consultant on multiple aspects of this Men’s collection spearheaded special celebrity projects: Serena and Venus Williams and Kevin Garnett. Sourced and selected skins in Italy and Asia for both sportswear and outerwear. Traveled to Korea and Hong Kong to oversee sampling.

  5. Nick Hilton. Designed Tailored Men’s Suiting and developed a specialized sportswear collection to complement the main collection. Worked with Indian factories on selecting tailored construction of the garments.

  6. Flatiron Seven. Conceptualized and launched a Young Men’s Contemporary brand. Pioneered the introduction of ergonomic design in men’s sportswear for ease of wear, styling, functionality, and fit. Directed sales team in a specialty store distribution nationwide.

  7. Rocawear. Launched an innovative brand with Jay-Z as the face of the brand. Targeted a niche customer base with classic American sportswear. Sales built from zero to over $15 million.

  8. 8732/ROC Apparel. Launched a celebrity brand from initial concept, building volume from zero to $7 million with multi-level distribution. Designed all categories from denim bottoms to leather outerwear. Hired and directed a team of thirteen designers.
